In 2016, Apttus implemented Microsoft Azure Machine Learning as part of its ML and Data Science Platforms deployment. Apttus built Apttus Intelligent Cloud on Microsoft Azure to provide a supercharged back end platform that would enrich its solutions with next generation functionality and support compute intensive enterprise operations.
Apttus Intelligent Cloud leverages a set of Azure platform services, including Azure Service Fabric for microservices orchestration, Azure Active Directory for authentication, Azure SQL Database and Azure Blob storage for data services, and Microsoft Azure Machine Learning for model training and hosting. Cortana Intelligence Suite components such as Azure Bot Service and Language Understanding Intelligent Service LUIS are used to power Max, the virtual assistant, and the product exposes Word and Excel as user interface options through Office 365 licensing.
The implementation integrates with Microsoft Dynamics 365 to enable Apttus to offer the solution to customers and prospects using Dynamics 365, expanding its commercial reach. Functional impact centers on quote to cash business processes, predictive analytics, and customer engagement, aligning ML and Data Science Platforms capabilities with sales, pricing, and contract management workflows.
Governance and rollout focused on platform centric model hosting, bot orchestration, and telemetry driven model refinement so machine learning systems get smarter as they are used. As Manuel stated, "Azure helped us provide our customers with the power, flexibility, and innovation they need to take their businesses into the future," and Apttus used these Azure services to create new user experiences such as a virtual assistant, augmented reality, and adaptive machine learning systems.
