| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Azure AD | Identity and Access Management (IAM) | CyberSecurity | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018, Arena Energy implemented Microsoft Azure AD as the core identity platform to establish a hybrid identity foundation. Microsoft Azure AD was deployed to address enterprise identity and authentication needs within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) category, supporting conditional access, single sign on, and multi factor authentication across on premise and cloud resources.
The implementation configured hybrid joined Azure Active Directory devices and applied conditional access policies, SSO flows, and MFA for workforce authentication. Microsoft Azure AD configuration was coordinated with on premise Active Directory, and Active Directory policies were created and managed to align identity objects and access controls across multiple organizational and business units.
Integrations included Exchange 365 coexistence and the migration of on premise mailboxes to Exchange Online, and identity integration with existing Exchange infrastructure. The broader infrastructure context included VMware and Hyper V hosts and clusters with storage snapshots and replication across three data centers, Distributed File System and replication servers deployed across three datacenters and Gulf of Mexico platforms, and a replacement of Veeam backup with Cohesity backup appliances for backup and recovery operations.
Governance work centered on AD policy standardization, device join and lifecycle processes, and authentication policy enforcement for conditional access and MFA, with operational management performed from the company site in The Woodlands, Texas. Operational controls extended to DNS hardening through a load balanced DNS blackhole cluster and staged server refreshes replacing Server 2003, Server 2008 R2 instances with Server 2016 and Server 2019 as part of the identity and infrastructure rollout.
