Functional capabilities implemented include asset record creation and attribute management, location transfer workflows, barcode tag issuance and tracking, department-level reporting tied to cost centers, and disposal request processing. The system configuration reflects the university policy threshold for tagging and supports departmental updates to existing asset records.
The deployment is integrated operationally with Workday for maintenance of capital asset records and lifecycle tracking from acquisition through retirement, with AssetWorks serving as the transactional asset repository for tagging, inventory and surplus workflows. Operational coverage spans CAM centrally and the broader ASU community of departments and cost centers, with defined processes for requesting AssetWorks access, resolving record access issues, and obtaining barcode tags for sensitive noncapital equipment.
Governance and process changes formalized through the implementation include CAM coordination of tagging events, the biennial inventory cadence, and procedures for responding to auditor and sponsor requests. AssetWorks Asset Performance Assessment supports surplus property procedures and audit readiness which are critical because annual approvals from the Office of Naval Research directly affect ASU ability to purchase assets on contracts and grants.
