| Siemens Digital Industries Software | Legacy | Siemens Opcenter | Manufacturing Execution System | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2008 | 2008 | In 2008, Armor Meca began adopting Siemens Digital Industries Software and acquired NX CAM licenses as part of a broader digitalization program that now includes Siemens Opcenter. Armor Meca implemented Siemens Opcenter as the Manufacturing Execution System element of a software stack that also comprises NX CAD/CAM, Teamcenter Manufacturing and Opcenter APS for planning, reflecting a multi-year move toward a database-driven manufacturing environment. The implementation scope includes 11 NX CAM licenses and five NX CAD licenses used for CAM programming and model preparation, and Teamcenter Manufacturing installed on 60 workstations to provide centralized, shared access to CAD and CAM data. Armor Meca is deploying Opcenter APS to optimize production line workflows and raw material loading, and plans to use NX Machining Knowledge Editor to standardize and accelerate programming through increased reuse. The Siemens Opcenter deployment is aligned with typical Manufacturing Execution System capabilities for shop floor orchestration, work order execution and production monitoring. Operational architecture ties digital tooling and automation into the shop floor, with digital twins of machine tools used to automate production methods and three robot cells handling stock loading, pallet handling, tool setup and 3D part control. Production spans five buildings on roughly 10,000 square meters, with 70 machines of which 75 percent are 5-axis, and workflows were restructured so designers, engineers and machine programmers operate from a single source of information. Integrated NX postprocessing is leveraged to generate machine ISO code directly for CNC execution, reducing manual handoffs between CAM and machine control. Janus Engineering provided ongoing deployment and optimization support for the Siemens software environment. Governance and process changes included centralized data management, a formalized in-house training program with a one month induction for new hires, and standardization of programming methods to increase reuse and reduce error rates. Explicit outcomes reported by Armor Meca include reduced NC programming and machining times, improved surface finish precision and quality, standardized and accelerated programming tasks, fewer errors and optimized use of manufacturing resources, as the company continues staged rollouts of Opcenter APS and additional Siemens measurement capabilities. |
