SoundHound Inc. Legacy SoundHound Houndify AI Platform Cognitive Computing AI-Powered Application n/a 2019 2020
In 2019 Aruma began exploring Conversational AI, trialing Amelia across two operational use cases while evaluating the SoundHound Houndify AI Platform for Cognitive Computing. Aruma is one of Australia’s leading disability service providers, partnering with roughly 5,000 people with a disability across eastern Australia, and the initiative focused on enhancing disability support services and creating greater independence for service users. The program centered on using conversational interfaces to capture shift-based customer records and incident reports, seeking capabilities typical of Cognitive Computing such as natural language understanding, dialog management, voice and text capture, and automated data entry to support frontline staff. Aruma trialed Amelia in 2019 and 2020 to assist support workers in customer support settings, and evaluated the SoundHound Houndify AI Platform as part of that exploration, with the intention of providing a more accessible and intuitive way to record critical data at the beginning and end of shifts. Governance and rollout were conducted as targeted trials in two use cases rather than an enterprise-wide deployment, with operational coverage focused on support workers and customer support workflows. Results from the Amelia trials included reduced incident reporting times and time savings of up to 75 percent in some cases, enabling support workers to spend more time with customers and supporting Aruma’s objective to digitize and resurface client records for improved care delivery.
