| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019, ASML US implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in a program aimed at standardizing end to end business processes across factories. The implementation targeted cross sector alignment of financial and operational master data to support configuration management, bills of materials and bills of process for production execution in Wilton Connecticut and Taiwan factories while establishing a baseline template for global business processes.
The SAP S/4 HANA deployment included heavy configuration management and master data work streams, with explicit focus on BoM and BoP design, production planning inputs and master data interdependencies. Business process architecture activities were used to map configuration management requirements into the SAP S/4 HANA configuration, and business architects developed transition architecture and capability overlays to guide solutions architecture and IT roadmap alignment.
Integrations were executed between Teamcenter and SAP modules to align engineering change phases and synchronize master data, and software functionality testing used DTAP environments with HP ALM for systems integration testing and user acceptance testing. The program also aligned legacy SAP R3 data through master data cleansing and preparation to be S/4 HANA ready, enabling E2E integrated solution design and scalability considerations across SAP S/4 HANA and PLM touch points.
Governance and process transformation were driven by CMII principles and a structured change control for BoM and BoP management, with business architecture roles providing ongoing guidance for configuration management, production execution and master data ownership. Project activities tied to the SAP Greenfield and FMO program included production engineering initiatives that reported explicit improvements such as cycle time reduction and increased manufacturing success ratio through application of 6 sigma and controlled engineering change processes.
