In 2004, Aspect Capital implemented SS&C Advent Geneva for Portfolio and Investment Management. The deployment targeted general ledger and front to back operations, supporting the firm’s investment operations and managed accounts functions.
SS&C Advent Geneva was configured to process daily cash journals and commission postings into the general ledger, manage instrument pricing and static data, and activate and verify new instruments and contracts. Geneva also handled daily reconciliation of Futures and FX trades to broker and clearer accounts and was used for collating client files for monthly processing.
Operational integration included direct workflows with prime brokers, clearers and executing brokers to resolve settlement issues and trade discrepancies, and coordination with Business Technology to test and map trade file feeds into Geneva. The implementation covered provisioning internal operational accounts in Geneva, requesting online access to broker and clearer reports for position and cash reconciliation, and establishing backup processes for disaster recovery.
Governance and process restructuring accompanied the rollout, with procedures and operational controls established for the new firm and a managed accounts coordinator acting as sole point of contact to standardize brokerage agreements and accelerate new business launches. The work included a systems conversion from the old single entry accounting system called Tradar to SS&C Advent Geneva, and ongoing KPI calculation and monitoring of clearer service levels to support operational oversight.
