In 2008 Assurant implemented Infor SunSystems as an ERP Financial application. The implementation covered an international footprint with deployments across Latin America, Europe, and Asia and was supported by a Systems Manager overseeing five internal and seven offshore resources.
The Systems Manager managed the development and support of internally developed financial software that extended the functionality of Infor SunSystems. Development technologies included ASP.Net, C#, JavaScript, Silverlight, WCF, and use of the Infor SunSystems API against an Oracle DBMS, indicating a hybrid customization layer built alongside core ERP configuration.
Operational scope centered on finance and accounting functions across the multinational sites, with the internally developed modules integrated into Infor SunSystems through its API and backed by Oracle database services. The technical architecture combined custom application layers with standard ERP services to support transactional posting, financial reporting, and automated data exchange.
Program governance encompassed staffing, budgeting, procurement, and vendor management for the Infor SunSystems deployment and the development team, with responsibility for ongoing support and enhancement delivery. This structure centralized ownership of ERP customization, release coordination, and third party procurement for the financial application landscape.

In 2021, Assurant implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR platform to standardize HR processes for approximately 14,000 employees in the United States insurance business. The deployment centered Workday HCM on core human resources functions, with an explicit focus on compensation, benefits, and hiring workflows within the Core HR domain.
The implementation included detailed compensation framework configuration, covering grades and grade steps, salary plans, hourly pay, allowances, merit increases, bonus plans, equity and stock handling, commission logic, one time payments, calculated plans, and compensation basis definitions. Assurant configured end to end compensation business processes such as set up compensation reviews, manage compensation reviews, compensation changes, compensation hiring and proposed compensation workflows, and implemented hiring related business processes including hire, job change, promote, transfer and terminate, while applying hiring restrictions and assigning compensation at offer.
Reporting and integration workstreams were substantial, using Workday Reporting, Custom Reporting, Advanced Reporting, Composite and Integration Reporting alongside integration technologies such as EIB, Core Connector, Workday integrations built with XML, XSLT, XPath and Workday Studio. Teams built document transformation flows, web services integrations, calculated fields and used EIBs and iLoads to load new records and update existing data, while generating and modifying custom Workday reports to deliver operational visibility.
Governance and operationalization included knowledge transfer sessions to configure benefits groups, plans, coverage types, event types and eligibility rules, and leadership of teams to produce and adjust custom reporting and integrations. Assurant established and maintained HR business process definitions and review workflows to support Compensation, Benefits, Talent Acquisition and HR Operations within Workday HCM.

In 2019, Assurant implemented AppWorx Workload Automation as part of its Business Process Management tooling. AppWorx Workload Automation was used to orchestrate scheduled SSIS jobs and automate nightly and weekend batch processes that update core data, aligning workload orchestration with Field Asset Services and related insurance operational workflows.
The implementation emphasized job scheduling, execution monitoring, and dependency driven orchestration capabilities common to workload automation platforms. AppWorx Workload Automation was configured to schedule and run SSIS packages, trigger SQL based data validations against Microsoft SQL Server 2014, and sequence SSRS report generation as part of end to end process flows, while coordinating existing regression automation and deployment steps.
Operational integrations reflected the application environment in use, including SSIS, SSRS, Microsoft SQL Server 2014, Octopus deployments, UNIX hosts, and the QA toolchain of Microsoft Test Manager and Team Foundation Server. The QA organization operated AppWorx Workload Automation alongside the Atomic UC4 tool for executing and monitoring scheduled jobs during testing and production support, with coverage spanning lower test environments, production support activities, data center migration work, and client onboarding projects.
Governance and process work tied the workload automation rollout to established SDLC and STLC practices and to both Waterfall and Agile delivery approaches. Test artifacts, defect workflows, and automated regression suites were integrated with job schedules and deployment windows, enabling QA to validate delimited files, Excel, XML and JSON payloads, isolate and replicate defects related to scheduled jobs, and provide daily status reporting to project teams and management.
