In 2018 Australian Unity implemented Coupa Invoice as part of a broader Coupa Business Spend Management deployment. Coupa Invoice was deployed in the AP Automation category to centralize invoice capture, automate approval routing, and remove paper-based Procure-to-Pay bottlenecks across its distributed Australian offices.
The implementation included Coupa Procurement, Coupa Invoicing, Coupa Contracts, Coupa Expenses, and Single Sign On to support user access and supplier interaction. Configuration emphasized invoice validation, supplier invoice submission workflows, and automated electronic processing to handle a recurring volume of roughly 7,000 invoices per month.
Operational coverage targeted procurement, finance, and supplier management functions across Australian Unity’s insurance, health and investment business units and offices throughout Australia. Supplier adoption was a core operational signal, with vendors initiating a majority of invoices and the platform configured to accept supplier-submitted e-invoices as the primary input channel.
Governance was reinforced through built-in visibility into approvers and approval status, giving finance teams clearer auditability and control over spend approvals. Outcomes reported by the customer include $16 million saved within two years, 99 percent of invoices processed electronically within 12 months, 71 percent of invoices submitted by suppliers electronically, and only 40 invoices processed manually each month after rollout.

In 2016, Australian Unity implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation in the Compensation Management category to centralize compensation planning and pay governance within HR. The deployment was embedded in a broader SuccessFactors footprint that included Employee Central and reporting tools, aligning compensation processes with core people data.
Configuration and functional scope focused on standard Compensation Management capabilities, including structured compensation cycles for merit and bonus administration, variable pay orchestration, budget controls, approval workflows and role based access for managers and HR. The implementation emphasized compensation templates, eligibility and rules configuration, and integration with reporting for people analytics to support informed decision making.
Integrations were governed through managed integration points to internal and external systems, with explicit alignment to SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and SuccessFactors reporting modules to ensure consistent people data. Operational ownership included HRIS and People Solutions teams, with the application supporting business projects that required authoritative people data and compensation decisioning.
Governance was established around a centralized BAU support model that handled defects, incidents, change requests and upgrades, alongside third party vendor relationship management and KPI tracking. Day to day operations were managed by People Solutions and PeopleConnect SuccessFactors leads who provided subject matter expertise for compensation administration and ongoing platform stewardship.
