In 2018, Avis UK implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as part of an EMEA Accounting Modernisation program. The Oracle Cloud ERP rollout concentrated on ERP Financial functionality, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, and financial close orchestration. Configuration work emphasized statutory reporting and consolidation controls to align accounting practices across UK operations and the broader EMEA scope of the programme.
Operationally the implementation centralized core financial processes for Avis UK, embedding automated ledger posting, invoice processing, and asset accounting within a single Oracle Cloud ERP instance. The project also supported accounting modernization and post-merger integration responsibilities described in the Finance Director’s remit, ensuring the system met cross-entity reporting and compliance requirements.
Governance was structured through finance-led program oversight, with the EMEA Accounting Modernisation Director coordinating process standardization, configuration decisions, and stakeholder alignment across affected finance teams. In 2015 Avis UK implemented Workday Absence Management as part of a broader global Workday HCM program, a deployment aligned to the Absence and Leave Management category. The implementation effort for the International region represented 21 countries in 13 languages, and it was coordinated alongside a transfer of HR administrative activities to an offshore shared service, with a regional go-live planned for 2 January 2017.
The deployment workstreams covered business process design and workflow definition, with the team running global and local design workshops to define to-be processes for absence management. Configuration workbooks were managed across HCM, absence, compensation, talent, security and translations, and the project lead validated inputs, reviewed outputs, and coordinated multiple iterations of employee data gathering and cleansing to prepare for Workday Absence Management configuration.
Integration and reporting activities were scoped explicitly, the program captured requirements with the Reporting Lead to enable payroll-related reports in the absence of a payroll integration, and the regional lead participated in integration requirements meetings for countries that required a Workday to payroll integration. User Acceptance Testing was supported through scenario creation, validation of security role configuration and facilitation of UAT sessions, with feedback loops to the global program team for anomalies, training gaps and documentation needs.
Governance was maintained through weekly global program calls where the International region lead reported progress and surfaced risks and issues, and the role managed coordination across regional stakeholders to ensure configuration alignment and data readiness. The narrative centers on Workday Absence Management as the application delivering absence workflows, leave administration and related security and translation configuration across Avis UK and the broader International region.
