Oracle Legacy Oracle E-Business Suite ERP Financial ERP n/a 2015 2016
In 2015, Avista Utilities implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as part of Project Compass. The Oracle E-Business Suite deployment addressed the company’s ERP Financial needs while Phase 1 concurrently selected Oracle Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) to replace the outdated customer information system and IBM’s Maximo to replace the work management and electric and natural gas meter systems. The Oracle E-Business Suite implementation focused on configuring core financial workflows typical of ERP Financial deployments, including general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and integrated financial reporting pipelines. IntelliTect designed and implemented the architectural and system integration solutions, and they managed a mixed implementation team of HP and IntelliTect engineers to build integrations and resolve escalated development issues. IntelliTect also designed automated testing and deployment processes to support iterative delivery. The program executed a complex integration architecture comprising 120 separate integrations between line-of-business and custom systems, explicitly including CC&B, Maximo, Ventyx, Oracle EBS, and ESRI’s ArcGIS. Integrations were implemented as point-to-point and orchestrated interfaces across customer care, field operations, meter systems, GIS and finance systems, with IntelliTect and HP engineering resources responsible for integration development and operational handoff. Governance and rollout emphasized centralized integration design, automated testing and deployment pipelines, and an escalation path led by IntelliTect engineers to address development risks and issues. The implementation narrative centers on multi-system orchestration among customer care, work management, meter data and financial systems, with Oracle E-Business Suite serving as the ERP Financial backbone within the Project Compass integration topology.

In 2016 Avista Utilities deployed Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite as its Asset Performance Management platform to centralize asset health analytics and risk-based prioritization. Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite was positioned to deliver condition-based monitoring, asset health modeling, and work prioritization capabilities across Avista Utilities asset management functions. The implementation focused on configuration of asset health scoring, failure mode and effects workflows, and scheduling rules that align maintenance planning with risk profiles. The Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite implementation included standard data models and automation of analytic job runs to support ongoing condition assessment and prioritization workflows. Integrations were implemented with Avista Utilities existing enterprise systems and data sources including IBM Maximo, ArcGIS, Cognos reporting, Oracle CC&B, ABB Service Suite, and Oracle Financials, enabling the Asset Performance Management application to consume work history, geospatial asset data, customer and billing context, and financial cost elements. Reporting and analytics design leveraged SQL and Cognos artifacts to validate data integrity and provide standardized operational reporting from the Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite. Governance and rollout emphasized data governance, regression testing, and cross functional process alignment, with SME responsibilities around database design, integration validation, and defect remediation. Process changes included standardized fault and work order data definitions and new validation rules to ensure consistent input into the Asset Performance Management workflows.
