In 2018, Banco Popular implemented the CLAI AUTORIZA7 Payment Platform as a transactional switch to manage its ATM network in Costa Rica. Banco Popular implemented CLAI AUTORIZA7 Payment Platform for Payment Processing to introduce multi-brand ATM support, deposits, and payments and to serve as a central payments hub for transactional routing.
The deployment used AUTORIZA7 AZ7 as the payments hub and transaction switch, configured to support multi-brand ATM routing, deposit handling, payment authorization, and central transaction switching. Configuration work emphasized switch rules, message format handling, and an ATM administration capability to enable operational control of device-level settings and service rollouts.
Operational coverage focused on the bank ATM estate across Costa Rica and on payments operations, integrating the transactional switch with the bank ATM network and transaction flows. The implementation concentrated on operationalizing ATM message switching and routing, with the payment switch mediating authorization and settlement messages across ATM endpoints.
Governance and operations were adjusted to enable independent ATM administration, transferring day-to-day ATM configuration and service enablement to bank operations. CLAI reports faster time-to-market and independent ATM administration as outcomes of the AUTORIZA7 deployment.

In 2015 Banco Popular implemented Temenos T24 Core Banking. The implementation was led by BPCD after an eight year project timeline, and the initial production deployment experienced operational problems that prompted executive escalation.
The Temenos T24 deployment centered on standard Core Banking capabilities, including account management, deposits, loan servicing, payments processing, and general ledger functionality, configured to support retail and commercial banking workflows. Temenos T24 was configured to centralize core account lifecycle, transaction processing, and settlement orchestration while introducing batch and real time posting controls typical for core banking operations.
Following Board-level intervention the bank engaged an external consulting group to perform a structured diagnosis, the consultants led a recommendations program that addressed stability and operational controls. The remediation work included targeted configuration reviews, testing tool adoption, strengthened technical support handover, and continuity of training programs to raise operational readiness across operations and branch support teams within Banco Popular Costa Rica.
Governance changes from the engagement established a diagnostic-driven remediation roadmap and sustained training, technical support, and testing tool activities to stabilize Temenos T24 operations. The consultant-led recommendations are documented as the basis for ongoing support and operational governance for Temenos T24 Core Banking at Banco Popular.
