In 2022, BanFast implemented IBM Envizi to centralize sustainability data and accelerate reporting across its property portfolio. The deployment targeted Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) capabilities to consolidate measurements, materials, supply chain details and smart meter data across 23 managed buildings and four owned properties in Stockholm.
The implementation used the IBM Envizi ESG Suite as a cloud hosted, AI powered environment to capture, consolidate, manage, analyze and report sustainability and ESG data. Functional capabilities configured include automated data ingestion from smart meters and building IoT sensors, customizable visualizations and dashboards, greenhouse gas accounting and template support for multiple reporting frameworks including European Sustainability Reporting Standards.
Operational integration was organized with sustainability specialist Edsvärd Hållbarhet AB managing and optimizing the cloud solution for BanFast, enabling connection to smart buildings and the large volumes of operational data generated during two major refurbishment projects. The rollout approach focused on an initial showcase tied to refurbishment work, with plans to scale information management and reporting progressively to cover the entire portfolio and to use the platform as the primary source for client facing sustainability disclosures.
Governance and reporting changes were aligned to upcoming EU CSRD requirements, with IBM Envizi configured to generate ESRS aligned reports and to allow versioned metrics and accounting standards for emissions. Outcomes explicitly stated by BanFast include a predicted 50 percent reduction in energy use across the portfolio, improved productivity for the sustainability team, better stakeholder reporting and anticipated access to green loan financing, and a stated ambition to require more detailed sustainability reporting from contractors and suppliers.
