In 2019, Schwaebisch Hall began transferring new lending business to SAP Fioneer Core Banking under the multi-year NEXT program, a Core Banking initiative to renew the companys IT base and scale construction financing. The program was scoped to establish an SAP-based core banking platform as the technical foundation for lending operations and product servicing.
The implementation delivered core lending modules covering building society loans, advance and interim loans, annuity loans and associated insurance products, alongside configuration for loan lifecycle management, digitalization and automation of credit processing. Delivery was organized into 13 software releases and four migration tranches to enable incremental cutover while preserving operational continuity.
Wavestone served as the principal system integrator coordinating SAP Fioneer as software provider and a range of external specialists, with up to 300 people engaged during go-lives. The gradual transfer of existing business and associated data continued through 2022 and involved moving more than one million loan agreements while supporting office staff and field advisors across Germany.
Program governance emphasized staged scope and release management, early user involvement, targeted training and the introduction of agile work methods, with sustained top management attention. The SAP Fioneer Core Banking deployment placed Schwaebisch Hall on a unified Core Banking platform that supports processing of both existing loan portfolios and accelerated new business, and increases available operational data for product development and corporate management.
