In 2011, BCD Travel implemented SAP Concur Expense as its Expense Management solution to standardize corporate expense reporting for travel and finance teams. The initial program focused on managing implementations of new business in the UK and scaled to multinational operations under a centralized program office.
SAP Concur Expense was configured to support core expense management workflows including employee expense reporting, automated approval routing, policy enforcement, and digital receipt capture, with configuration for mobile expense entry and corporate card reconciliation. The implementation emphasized expense data normalization to enable consistent post trip reporting and auditability across business units.
The deployment integrated SAP Concur Expense with multiple on-line booking tools and management information systems explicitly listed by the customer, including Concur Travel, GetThere, Cytric, AeTM, BCD Business & SAP, and Decision Source for pre and post trip reporting. These integrations tied itinerary and booking data to expense records to improve trip-level cost allocation and to feed management information tools for centralized reporting.
Project governance was delivered through a maintained project plan and a structured rollout approach, coordinating project activities for new-business onboarding in the UK and multinational sites. Configuration governance included approval workflow standardization, expense policy controls, and staged cutovers to align travel procurement, finance, and reporting processes with the SAP Concur Expense platform.

In 2018, BCD Travel implemented LinkedIn Learning to expand its enterprise Learning and Development capability and operationalize a competency-based approach across the company. The deployment was positioned inside BCD Travel’s Business Travel Academy and aligned directly with a corporate competency model that applied to more than 13,000 employees globally.
BCD Travel configured LinkedIn Learning to support competency-driven learning pathways, building more than 100 customized learning paths mapped to core and managerial competencies. The implementation leveraged LinkedIn Learning’s large content library, which provided over 13,000 professionally produced courses across multiple languages, and enabled the addition of BCD Travel’s internal training content into those learning paths.
Operationally the rollout was global and integrated with existing HR and talent management workflows, making competency assessments and development planning part of routine performance conversations. The user experience emphasis included mobile accessibility and low training overhead, and the implementation worked with business leaders to create function-specific learning paths within LinkedIn Learning.
Governance was driven by the competency model, which elevated Active and Continuous Learning to a core competency and created a common framework for managers and employees to discuss skill gaps. Outcomes explicitly reported included clearer visibility into workforce strengths and development needs, broader uptake of competency-based professional development, and the ability for employees to post course certificates to their LinkedIn profiles as part of career development and external professional branding.
