In 2022, Beale & Co implemented Thomson Reuters Elite eBillingHub, a Legal Time and Billing application, to centralize and automate electronic billing across its UK and international offices. The firm, which has around 166 employees and more than 60 lawyers across London, Bristol, Dublin, and Dubai, adopted the solution to reduce manual bill preparation and accelerate payment cycles.
Thomson Reuters Elite eBillingHub was configured to automate LEDES file population, validate bill data, route invoices to the correct client portals, and surface rejections and error flags for rapid remediation. The implementation emphasized automated workflows for bill creation, submission tracking, and consolidated reporting to provide a single user interface for accounts staff and management oversight.
The deployment integrated with the firm’s Peppermint practice management system via an API, allowing bills created in Peppermint to be ingested into eBillingHub and transformed into the specific LEDES formats required by individual clients. eBillingHub then identified the correct client portal for submission, removing manual conversions for multiple LEDES variations and consolidating status visibility that had previously required tracking across many platforms. Beale & Co processed about 50 e bills per month at go live with an expectation to scale toward 250 as more insurer clients adopt e billing.
Beale & Co engaged a consultant to assist with the Peppermint integration and worked closely with the eBillingHub team during a concentrated rollout, completing development in 25 days. Governance and operating changes included standardizing client relationships in the system, shifting accounts staff from repetitive upload tasks to oversight, and establishing a cadence of monitoring rejections to drive matter-level training for fee earners. Reported outcomes in the project materials include immediate reductions in manual effort, faster payments and lock up day reductions, improved visibility for the COO and partners, and a material reduction in accounts team overtime.
