In 2015, Benihana implemented Equifax Unemployment Cost Management, an Insurance Claims Management application to centralize handling of unemployment claims. The deployment supported Benihana, Inc operations in Aventura, FL and was used across corporate HR from 2015 to 2018 to manage and audit employee files for over 8000 Benihana employees.
Equifax Unemployment Cost Management was configured to support case management and claims documentation workflows, including structured evidence collection, claimant response coordination, and dispute documentation. Operational activities documented include resolving unemployment claims with Equifax by gathering and providing relevant case data, conducting on site investigations alongside the Director of Employee Relations, and supporting the Talent Acquisition team in background checks for manager level and corporate hires. Identity and employment authorization verification for new corporate employees was performed using Tracker I-9 as part of onboarding and eligibility validation.
The implementation linked Equifax Unemployment Cost Management with Benihana internal employee file repositories and HR operational processes to enable record updates during terminations, equipment collection, badge deactivation, and claim closure. The application was embedded into talent workflows such as posting restaurant positions to job boards and delivering new hire orientation for corporate employees, creating continuity between recruitment activities and claims response. Functional coverage emphasized Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, and corporate HR operations across Benihana sites.
Governance centered on ongoing auditing of employee files, standardized termination procedures, and retention of case evidence to support case resolution with Equifax. Equifax Unemployment Cost Management served as the primary Insurance Claims Management tool for unemployment claim handling at Benihana during the 2015 to 2018 period.
