In 2014, Bentley Systems implemented Digital.ai Agility (ex VersionOne) as its Application Lifecycle Management platform to support release planning and defect management across its software development organization. The deployment was managed by Bentley's software operations group, which provided standards, process guidance, and operational support to product teams while owning tool configuration and metric definitions.
The implementation encompassed release planning capabilities in Digital.ai Agility, consolidation and maintenance of defect, enhancement, and task forms, and configuration work to align work item types with Bentley's product registry. The team planned and executed structural changes to support collections and hierarchies that reflected product lines, and they performed ongoing upgrades and configuration management of the VersionOne release planning tooling prior to and during the Digital.ai Agility adoption.
Integrations and operational scope included synchronizing Team Foundation Server hierarchies with Bentley's Global Product Registry, creating and maintaining TFS collections that mirrored product structure, and executing migrations of defect data as part of the consolidation program. Product teams participated in migration planning and scheduling, with the software operations group executing migrations and providing day to day troubleshooting and IT ticket resolution for TFS and release planning tool incidents.
Governance and process change efforts were formalized through published best practice documents, an evaluation of fifty nine defect management applications that led to a recommendation to standardize from ten defect management tools to one, and ongoing maintenance of all defect and task forms. Operational responsibilities included system upgrades, configuration stewardship, and hands on support to ensure the Application Lifecycle Management processes and the Digital.ai Agility implementation remained aligned with Bentley's Global Product Registry.

In 2021, Bentley Systems implemented SAP Financial Supply Chain Management (SAP FSCM) to support its AR Automation initiatives within its SAP ERP and S/4HANA Finance environment. The deployment was led by Bentley’s internal SAP Business Solutions team, which is responsible for configuration, maintenance, operation, and ongoing administration of Finance Business Solutions that form the core of internal user experience.
The configuration work centered on SAP Financial Supply Chain Management, and extended to accounts receivable automation workflows including credit management, collections, cash application, and dispute management consistent with AR Automation capabilities. Implementation tasks included functional configuration of SAP S/4HANA Finance, General Ledger, Treasury, FICA, and Accounts Receivable modules, along with development of custom reports and data upload processes where required.
Integrations were designed and overseen between SAP FSCM and multiple SAP modules, including SAP CRM and other SAP ERP components, as well as third-party software and payroll integration points identified by the business. The program emphasized management of interfaces in and out of the system of record to ensure accurate and timely information exchange across finance, treasury, and accounts teams that serve Bentley’s global user base.
Governance and operationalization were executed by the internal consulting function acting as liaison to business stakeholders, providing second level support, training, and process documentation. The team enforced SAP best practices, aimed to minimize customizations, managed unit and regression testing across environments, handled job monitoring and performance tuning, and maintained data consistency through structured uploads and reconciliation processes.
