In 2018, Birlasoft implemented SAP S/4 HANA. Birlasoft implemented SAP S/4 HANA in 2018 as its ERP Financial platform, migrating core financial operations from Oracle PeopleSoft ERP to establish a unified transactional backbone after the acquisition of KPIT’s IT services business.
The deployment consolidated a centralized SAP S/4 HANA platform for standard ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and financial reporting, aligned with data center and network consolidation. Application integration work included business process re engineering, organization restructuring and policy harmonization, and the program explicitly included sunsetting Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as part of the transition to SAP S/4 HANA.
Operational scope covered finance, procurement, shared services and IT operations as part of a One organization and One System initiative following the acquisition. Infrastructure integration addressed data center and network, email and communication infrastructure consolidation, and rollout activities were paired with team restructuring to align operating model and support processes to the new SAP S/4 HANA environment.
Governance was driven by process redesign and policy harmonization, with a roadmap created for the next phase of cloud and digital transformation. The program reported productivity improvement and cost rationalization through optimization of application costs, communication costs, license and AMC costs, and included proactive measures to prevent business disruption during the Covid 19 lockdown and work from home regime.
