Workday Oracle PeopleSoft ERP Workday Financial Management ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2016 2017
In 2016 BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee implemented Workday Financial Management as its ERP Financial application. The deployment replaced Oracle PeopleSoft ERP and established a centralized finance platform supporting General Ledger, Expenses, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Inventory, Customer Accounts, and Asset Management. Implementation work focused on configuration of core FSCM modules, creation and maintenance of custom validations, business processes, and Workday workflows. The program included development and distribution of test scenarios, management of a testing workgroup for system upgrades, and authoring of Workday reports for management and end users. Integrations linked Workday Financial Management to transactional feeds for Cash, Claims, Billings, Commissions, and other interfaces, and the project mapped data warehouse items to the General Ledger. The team also assisted with the transition from PeopleSoft views to Cognos queries for data warehouse items and served as the liaison between Finance and Information Systems for integration troubleshooting. Governance and change activities were structured around a financial stakeholder model, regular status meetings to communicate project status to upper management, and process-oriented work to create and maintain lean financial procedures. Ongoing responsibilities included researching issues across GL, accounts payable, purchasing, inventory, business assets, customer accounts, and integrations, and supporting upgrades and implementations as the financial owner of the solution.

Workday Oracle PeopleSoft HCM Workday HCM Core HR HCM n/a 2010 2010
In 2010 BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR application, migrating HR workloads from Oracle PeopleSoft HCM. The implementation established Workday HCM as the system of record for core employee data and centralized time and absence processes within the HR technology stack. The project team assigned a principal functional owner with primary responsibility for Time Tracking and Absence Management and secondary responsibility for Configurable Security, Payroll and Core HCM. The Workday HCM deployment focused on configuring timekeeping workflows, absence plans, timesheet templates and role based security frameworks, applying Core HR functional terminology such as time capture, absence plans, and payroll interface readiness. The principal brought direct experience from a PeopleSoft 9.1 Time and Labor rollout, where they had configured Workgroups, TCRs, TRC Programs, Rules and Rule Programs and Timesheet Templates, and leveraged that knowledge for rules design and timesheet template mapping in Workday HCM. Operational coverage included HR, payroll and the corporate wellness program, aligning time and absence processes with payroll and benefits related workflows. The implementation team also analyzed wellness program extensions including bolt on modules to manage collection of wellness related data and to process quarterly wellness incentive payouts, and the principal was instrumental in the analysis and purchase of an appointment scheduling software package to support the wellness initiative. Governance emphasized principal functional ownership of time and absence configuration, change control over configurable security and rules, and cross functional sign off among HR, payroll and wellness stakeholders.

National Account Service Company Legacy NASCO Processing System Core Admin Processing System ERP Services and Operations n/a 2007 2008
In 2007, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee implemented the NASCO Processing System as its Core Admin Processing System, procured from National Account Service Company. The deployment established a centralized platform for core administrative processing across claims administration, membership records, and provider data management for the insurer. The NASCO Processing System was configured to support standard Core Admin Processing System capabilities including claims adjudication workflows, member enrollment and identification, billing and remittance processing, and provider indexing. NASCO Processing System records include health insurance numbers, group numbers, claim details, medical ID numbers, dates of service, procedure codes, and provider names, reflecting its role in handling transactional and benefits adjudication data. Operationally the NASCO Processing System was integrated with third party file exchange tooling, specifically MOVEit Transfer by Progress Software, to exchange files between NASCO and its partners. In 2023 NASCO reported a data security incident originating on May 30, 2023 when an unauthorized third party acquired data from MOVEit, the issue was identified by NASCO on July 12, 2023, and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee was informed on October 20, 2023, illustrating the system's reliance on external secure file transfer for data interchange. Following discovery of the incident NASCO secured systems, engaged a leading cybersecurity firm for investigation, and notified law enforcement, while providing outreach to affected individuals. NASCO offered 24 months of identity monitoring to notified members and established a dedicated toll free line for inquiries, actions that reflect incident response and beneficiary notification controls layered on top of the Core Admin Processing System governance around data exchange and member privacy.
