In 2010, Bona implemented Infor Baan ERP as its Manufacturing ERP backbone to standardize manufacturing and distribution processes across multiple sites. The Infor Baan ERP deployment sat alongside a broader corporate IT program that included global CRM, e-commerce, and management systems initiatives.
The implementation concentrated on manufacturing and logistics functional capabilities typical of a Manufacturing ERP, including inventory control with batch and traceability support, central distribution logistics, and finance and controlling functions aimed at simplifying monthly reporting and obsolete inventory accounting. Project work also encompassed HR time reporting and the provisioning of BI system functionality to support key performance indicators.
Operational coverage for Infor Baan ERP included explicit roll-outs to a China site and a US site using Baan, while a sanding machine manufacturing site continued on SAP, reflecting a mixed ERP estate. The ERP work was executed in parallel with CRM and e-commerce programs, with e-commerce introduced in a handful of countries and CRM implemented globally in more than ten countries with approximately 200 users.
Governance was organized through named project managers accountable for ERP roll-outs, e-commerce, CRM, and a management systems program that delivered document management, process mapping, workflow, and project management capabilities. Roll-out activity was ongoing at the time of implementation, covering cross departmental workflows in logistics, manufacturing, finance, and sales, and coordinating site level and group level rollout governance.
