| The Access Group | Legacy | Access PeopleXD (formerly CoreHR) | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012 Bournemouth University committed investment in Access PeopleXD (formerly CoreHR) as its Core HR platform, positioning the application to support HR and payroll business functions across the institution. The initial deployment implemented integrated Personnel, Payroll, Absence Management, Employee Self Service and business intelligence capabilities within Access PeopleXD, and the environment has been upgraded from v16 to v21 in later maintenance cycles.
Configuration and operationalization of Access PeopleXD follows established HR cycles, including annual salary and allowance review driven configuration, planning and implementation of restructures, and bulk data change processes. The team provides provision of all user training through face to face and group sessions, and delivers ad hoc and regular reporting for management information and KPIs at all levels throughout the University.
Operational integrations focus on data integrity and statutory reporting, with leadership and coordination of data integrity tasks both internally and with external bodies, and responsibility for annual returns including the annual HESA Staff Return. Access PeopleXD is used to produce MI for Planning, Risk, Intelligence, and Management Information functions, supporting HR, payroll and institutional planning workflows across the campus.
Governance and support are institutionalized, with continuous support, ongoing development and maintenance of Access PeopleXD, and participation in governance forums. Bournemouth University staff are members of the Data Quality Forum and executives in the Planning, Risk, Intelligence, Management Information and Enhancement group, they are also representatives in a user group of other UK higher education institutions using CoreHR, and they use Teamwork, JIRA and TestRail for projects and upgrades with the software provider.

| Datasym | Legacy | Datasym.POS | Point Of Sale | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2007 | 2007 |
In 2007 Bournemouth University engaged Datasym through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership to develop and implement Datasym.POS as a purpose-built Point Of Sale application to capture patient meal orders within the university foodservice and catering process area. The project was framed as a KTP partnership, positioning Datasym and university stakeholders in a structured knowledge transfer and co-development model focused on cafeteria ordering workflows and clinical meal capture requirements.
Datasym.POS was implemented with explicit POS and cafeteria ordering capability, including order entry interfaces for frontline catering staff and reconciliation functions for back-office integration. The implementation narrative describes a centralized application architecture with point-of-sale terminals or order capture interfaces connected to an integration layer that synchronizes order data with back-office processes, supporting menu management and operational ordering workflows typical of Point Of Sale systems.
Operational coverage targeted campus catering and patient meal services within the United Kingdom context, with governance delivered under the KTP framework to enable iterative development, stakeholder signoff, and transfer of operational knowledge to university teams. The technical and process design emphasized POS/cafeteria ordering and back-office integration as the primary modules and integration focus for Bournemouth University and Datasym.
