In 2019 Brandeis University began a multiyear initiative to replace Oracle PeopleSoft ERP with Workday Financial Management. The project centers on deploying Workday Financial Management as a cloud-based application in the ERP Financial category to consolidate the campus finance footprint into a single platform.
The implementation focused on core ERP Financial modules, with configurations aligned to general ledger, accounts payable, procurement, and expense management, and included reporting and financial close capabilities consistent with Workday Financial Management standard functionality. Configuration emphasized a unified data model and role-based security to support campus finance workflows and period-end processes.
Architecturally the deployment uses Workday’s cloud delivery model to centralize transaction processing and reporting across university departments and administrative units, integrating various core functions into one place as stated in project planning. The scope targeted university finance operations and administrative finance owners, with cross-departmental data consolidation to support shared financial processes.
Huron Consulting Group served as the implementation partner, executing a phased, multiyear rollout and supporting configuration, governance design, and organizational change activities with finance leadership. Governance established program steering and project-level controls to coordinate the transition from Oracle PeopleSoft ERP to Workday Financial Management.
