In 2019, Briggs Equipment implemented Medius AP Invoice Automation as an AP Automation solution to manage high volume invoice processing across its distribution operations. The initiative targeted the centralized accounts payable function that processes about 18,000 invoices per month from multiple locations and suppliers, with an existing footprint of electronic data interchange that handled roughly 40 percent of invoices.
Medius AP Invoice Automation was configured to provide automated invoice capture, extraction, approval routing, and straight through processing to reduce manual work. Prior to the project there were two to three manual touchpoints and frequent physical movement of paper invoices between departments, and the implementation focused on minimizing those touchpoints through workflow orchestration and automated approver determination.
The deployment preserved and integrated with the companys EDI flows so EDI and non EDI invoices could be ingested into a unified automation pipeline, ensuring invoices reached the correct approver automatically. Operational scope emphasized the centralized AP team and cross site finance approvers, enabling instantaneous routing to the appropriate department or approver without manual handoffs.
Governance changes shifted invoice approval from manual, paper based routing to automated workflow governance, with Project Manager Alden Senteney noting that three quarters of invoices now process without human intervention. The implementation of Medius AP Invoice Automation resulted in almost all invoices reaching the correct approver instantly and automatically, materially reducing paper movement and manual routing across departments.
