In 2013 BSES Delhi deployed Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite as an Asset Performance Management solution to support SCADA driven power distribution operations across its substations and control centers. The implementation targeted distribution network monitoring and operational asset management, linking substation control, master control centers, and central application servers under a unified Asset Performance Management framework.
Engineering and modelling work used DE400 to build SCADA, DMS and network models, and the project included design engineering, estimation, tendering, procurement, technical evaluation, installation and commissioning activities. Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite was configured with bespoke SCADA display development for all substations, incremental population of application servers, data extraction workflows from the UDW server, and routine backup and troubleshooting processes for SCADA, UDW and application servers.
Integrations explicitly implemented included communication establishment between ABB network manager and ABB RTU equipment over leased lines using IEC 104 protocol, and field interfacing with ABB RTU560 and RTU211 units. The scope covered point to point validation and testing for all substations, management of the communications network, and setting up of the master control center with required software and hardware to operate alongside the application servers and UDW.
Governance and operationalization emphasized formal validation and point to point testing, staged commissioning, and hands on field testing of RTU hardware and communications links. Operational responsibilities spanned engineering, commissioning, network management and control room operations, with documented procedures for troubleshooting, server backups and incremental application population to support ongoing Asset Performance Management activities using Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite.
