CARL Software Legacy CARL Source Transport Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) ERP Services and Operations Alstom 2012 2012
In 2012, Cairo Metro Egypt implemented CARL Source Transport, deploying a Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) application to support the opening of Line 3's first section. CARL Source Transport was selected via the Alstom Transport project consortium to govern maintenance of depot fixed installations and rolling stock. The deployment configured CARL Source Transport capabilities consistent with Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) practice, including an asset hierarchy and traceability for depot infrastructure and trainsets, work order management for corrective and preventive maintenance, and scheduling to coordinate depot operations. Implementation emphasized configuration of maintenance workflows, spare parts inventory control, and technician tasking aligned to depot and rolling stock maintenance needs. Operational coverage focused on depot fixed installations and rolling stock across the new Line 3 section, impacting maintenance technicians, depot supervisors and operations planners. The solution was delivered through the Alstom Transport consortium and integrated into depot operational workflows with data capture processes to strengthen asset traceability. Rollout included hands on training and skills transfer for technicians and governance changes to centralise maintenance processes and standardise workflows across depots. The program aimed to centralise maintenance processes, improve depot operations and enhance asset traceability along Line 3.
