Oracle Legacy Oracle OCI AI Infrastructure AI infrastructure AI Development n/a 2024 2024
In 2024 CalmWave deployed Oracle OCI AI Infrastructure to power its Quiet ICU platform, using Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse as the analytic backbone. CalmWave was founded in 2022 and the deployment targets critical care hospital operations where clinicians receive decision support to reduce alarm burden, aligning with the AI infrastructure category. The implementation on Oracle OCI AI Infrastructure centralizes real time ingestion, model training, and inference workflows. CalmWave configured a streaming ingestion pipeline for ICU vital sign signals and alarm events, and implemented a recommendation engine that generates clinician facing suggestions to update alarm limits. Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse is used to persist large volumes of time series clinical data and support iterative model development and analytics. Operationally the deployment is cloud native on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and integrates directly with ICU monitoring device feeds and alarm streams to collect telemetry and event data. The platform scope is focused on critical care units and clinician workflows, and the system design emphasizes low latency inference for bedside recommendations and secure storage of clinical telemetry in the Autonomous Data Warehouse. Governance and workflow changes center on clinician review and safe recommendation controls, where system outputs are surfaced as suggested alarm limit updates rather than automated changes. The initial rollout prioritized remediating alarm fatigue by ingesting alarms and vital signs and providing safe recommendations, and the same AI infrastructure and data architecture are being used to accelerate further innovation in hospital critical care operations.
