In 2022, Care New England implemented EPIC EHR within Care New England Medical Group for a targeted ambulatory float Medical Assistant deployment at Providence, RI, with operational activity documented from January 2022 to April 2022. Day to day operational tasks captured in the environment included updating patient information, maintaining HIPAA access controls, handling cash drawer and checkout activities, and scanning and indexing patient documents into the EPIC EHR patient record.
Operational coverage was focused on the Care New England Medical Group ambulatory sites in Providence, with the EPIC EHR supporting Medical Assistant workflows that bridge front desk registration, clinical rooming, and outbound referral workflows. The deployment incorporated document management and outbound fax workflows as core operational touchpoints, and was structured to support role based access for medical assistants and front office staff.
Governance and rollout followed a short term implementation window between January and April 2022, with procedural changes to intake, documentation, and referral processing to align daily operations with EPIC EHR processes. HIPAA compliance and user access controls were enforced as part of the operational governance for clinical record handling and document scanning within the Electronic Health Record environment.
