Operational scope covered the hospital revenue cycle organization, patient financial services and accounting teams, while retaining local clinical registration and front end patient intake. Standardized workflows were established for eligibility, patient financial counseling, claims resolution and daily cash reconciliation inside the Revenue Cycle Management environment.
Rollout began in 2013 and results are reported from pre-implementation 2012 through 2017. Between 2012 and 2017 the hospital reported a 132% increase in gross revenue, a 165% increase in cash collections and a 42% reduction in A/R days after transitioning patient access, patient financial services and accounting functions to Oracle Cerner RevWorks. Governance changes focused on centralizing revenue operations under RevWorks workflows and formalizing A/R and collections processes within the Revenue Cycle Management framework.
