In 2020, Carrus Health completed an implementation of Medhost EHR as a cloud hosted Enterprise Electronic Health Record and Revenue Cycle solution across its hospitals, including a new behavioral health facility. The rollout expanded Carrus Health’s MEDHOST partnership and targeted both clinical and financial systems under a single vendor relationship.
The Medhost EHR deployment delivered core Electronic Health Record capabilities aligned to acute care workflows, including clinical charting, order entry, medication management, and integrated patient access and scheduling functions, paired with Revenue Cycle capabilities for registration, billing, and claim processing. The implementation included configuration for behavioral health workflows to support the newly opened behavioral health facility alongside general acute care modules.
Architecturally the program used a centralized cloud hosted Enterprise EHR model to provide consistent infrastructure and application management across hospital sites, with the deployment scoped to inpatient and facility based operations. Operational coverage emphasized clinical care delivery, revenue cycle operations, and IT stability, with the stated objective to improve clinical and financial performance and to provide IT resilience during facility construction and the COVID 19 pandemic.

In 2016, Carrus Health deployed Tungsten Power PDF 5.1 to manage nursing and policy handbooks. The Tungsten Power PDF 5.1 deployment addressed Document Management needs within Carrus Health operations in Sherman, Texas and focused on clinical documentation workflows. The implementation targeted non technical hospital staff who needed straightforward editing and annotation capabilities.
Functional capabilities implemented included document editing, annotation, and centralized electronic handbook distribution to reduce printing and paper use. Deployment provided staff level access for nurses and administrators to update policy content and annotate clinical documents without specialized IT intervention. The Document Management configuration emphasized usability and HIPAA aware handling of clinical documentation.
The rollout covered nursing and policy handbook management and directly improved clinical documentation workflows across the hospital. The project freed budget, with approximately 1,800 dollars saved over three years, and those funds were redirected toward other HIPAA compliant initiatives. Governance changes centered on enabling non technical ownership of document updates and reducing dependence on paper based revision cycles.
