In 2010, Center Theatre Group implemented Microsoft Dynamics GP as its ERP Financial application. The deployment established Microsoft Dynamics GP as the core accounting and financial management system supporting the nonprofit's central finance function.
The Microsoft Dynamics GP implementation focused on core accounting modules typical of ERP Financial deployments, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting. The Director of Information Systems functioned as the SQL Server DBA for the Dynamics GP database, planning and executing application upgrades and ongoing maintenance to support month end close and consolidated financial reporting workflows.
Operationally the application was hosted on a virtualized infrastructure, with the SQL Server database tier running within a VMware ESXi environment on Nutanix hardware that supported over 50 servers and 80 virtual desktops. Network architecture spanned three physical locations, using fiber, copper, wireless and VPN connectivity to connect remote work centers and remote users, enabling centralized financial processing across sites.
Governance and operational ownership were centralized under the Director of Information Systems who also served as information security officer, responsible for security policy, disaster recovery procedures, vendor management, security awareness training, firewall and anti virus configuration and vulnerability assessments. IT directives included moving toward hyper converged infrastructure and cloud computing to increase efficiency and reduce costs, while maintaining responsibility for the day to day operations of Microsoft Dynamics GP.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics GP HR | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2010 | 2011 |
In 2010, Center Theatre Group implemented Microsoft Dynamics GP HR to centralize Core HR and payroll administration across its nonprofit operations. The deployment targeted HR, Finance, Development, and Production departments and was used to manage employee records for roughly 300 staff, supporting union and non‑union payroll rules and multiple pay cadences. Center Theatre Group Microsoft Dynamics GP HR Core HR responsibilities included maintaining the employee database and supporting timekeeping driven payroll processes.
The Microsoft Dynamics GP HR implementation encompassed core payroll processing, employee master data management, benefits reconciliation, retirement plan administration for 401K and 403B, tax reporting workflows, and general ledger reconciliation. Configuration work emphasized payroll audits and approval controls, alignment of HR benefits data with payroll accounting, and support for weekly and biweekly payroll runs. The full application name Microsoft Dynamics GP HR appears in system usage for producing month‑end payroll reports and year‑end W‑2 processing.
Integrations and operational touchpoints included a timekeeping integration with the TimeForce system for time capture and validation, and structured outputs to external agencies and service providers such as the IRS, California EDD, and retirement plan vendors for contribution and census submissions. The system fed payroll reports and payroll tax filing data to state and federal agencies and provided reconciled datasets for benefits vendors and auditors. Operational coverage explicitly included coordination with Management and Production departments to apply union pay, premium, and penalty rules.
Governance centered on a Payroll Manager and Payroll Specialist model, with the Payroll Manager responsible for supervising the specialist, auditing payroll data before and after runs, and serving as Plan Administrator for retirement plans. Controls included routine reconciliation of employee‑related benefit invoices, reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts, and supporting auditor inquiries for workers compensation, pension, and retirement audits. Process responsibilities also covered preparing quarterly and year‑end filings and maintaining compliance records such as I‑9 and W‑4 documentation.

GumGum is an Artificial Intelligence Marketing application embedded to provide contextual advertising and AI-driven content placement across the Center Theatre Group web property. Configuration emphasized contextual analysis and automated creative placement, leveraging GumGum capabilities for content category detection, contextual targeting, and campaign measurement.
