In 2025 Century Fire Protection deployed Appian Private AI to automate accounts payable across its United States finance organization, leveraging Appian Private AI to bring in-process document classification and invoice data capture into AP workflows, Apps Category . The deployment focused on automating invoice intake and validation inside live process models to reduce manual processing steps and exception handoffs.
The implementation used Appian's AI Document Center to classify incoming invoices and extract structured fields, embedding extraction logic into live process models and exception queues. Configuration emphasized document classification, field extraction, confidence scoring, human review routing and automated posting handoffs into AP processing.
Operational coverage was scoped to U.S. accounts payable operations and centralized AP processing centers, with the solution invoked directly inside AP process flows to reduce manual touchpoints and accelerate invoice throughput. Integrations were implemented at the workflow level to feed extracted invoice data into existing finance controls and approval steps while preserving existing downstream posting and reconciliation processes.
Governance changes included new process controls, role based review queues and audit trails to support AI driven classification decisions and exception handling during rollout. According to Appian customer announcements the deployment reduced invoice operating time by 36 percent and cut missed early payment discounts by approximately 50 percent.
