In 2013, CGG implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform to consolidate core finance and accounting functions for the professional services organization. Oracle E-Business Suite was positioned to support enterprise financial management across corporate finance, accounting, treasury, and statutory reporting functions at the company headquartered in France.
The implementation focused on canonical financial modules typical of ERP Financial deployments, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and financial reporting and consolidation capabilities. Configuration work emphasized chart of accounts design, subledger accounting and period close sequencing to standardize accounting workflows and support regulatory reporting.
The technical architecture followed a standard three tier Oracle E-Business Suite topology with database, application, and web tiers, and application level configuration for concurrent processing and batch financial jobs. Implementation activities included technical customization, patching, and environment hardening performed by an Oracle EBS Technical Consultant to align application behavior with CGG accounting policies.
Program governance established centralized financial controls, role based access controls, and standardized month end close and approval workflows to enforce process consistency across finance teams. Change control and release management practices were instituted to manage configuration changes and custom code introduced during the Oracle E-Business Suite deployment.
