In 2022, Citeo adopted SAP S/4HANA Cloud via the RISE with SAP offer, migrating from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 after an interim move of its SAP footprint to Microsoft Azure. The migration program was entrusted to SI/VAR STMS and reached production in less than eight months, with design and development work executed from February to May 2022, initial acceptance from May to July, business acceptance in September, and go live at the end of September 2022.
The implementation retained a tightly scoped ERP Financial footprint focused on SD, MM and FICO modules to manage the company’s significant incoming and outgoing financial flows. SAP S/4HANA Cloud was configured to preserve the SAP GUI experience initially, deferring full Fiori user interface modernization, while a deliberate program to reduce custom specifics was started to align processes with SAP S/4HANA Cloud standard capabilities.
Deployment used the RISE with SAP cloud delivery model, with STMS and a dedicated SAP team overseeing technical cutover and post go live stabilization. The project preserved existing integrations that support financial operations, and CITEO organized structured workshops with business managers and ERP users to capture process requirements and prioritize adjustments for a 2023 roadmap.
Governance combined integrator-led delivery and in-house IT oversight, with prioritized follow-on work to reintegrate customer reminder processes, shorten bank reconciliation cycles, deliver Fiori reporting for management control, implement KPI tiles for accounting, and introduce a closing cockpit. Expected benefits stated by the company included a massive ERP modernization, an anticipated reduction in overall operating costs of around 20 percent, administrative simplification under a single contract, and built-in disaster recovery, and after nearly three months of operation the new ERP reported no major failures while a small number of issues remained to be resolved.
