Colombina’s SAP S/4 HANA environment was hosted and managed at an IBM data center on IBM Power Systems S822 servers running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications, with low-latency IBM FlashSystem storage built on Spectrum Virtualize. The solution used SUSE Live Patching and the High Availability Extension to minimize maintenance windows, and financing from IBM Global Financing was used to defer payment timing for the project.
To control risk and downtime during cutover, Colombina used IBM Rapid Move for SAP S/4HANA and the CrystalBridge data transformation platform to streamline the technical transition and data consolidation. An IBM HANA Impact Assessment and data cleansing exercise reduced the initial migration volume by 3 TB, and the project adhered to a strict four-day planned downtime window, achieving a two-day switchover for the data platform and minimizing business interruption.
Measured outcomes reported after the SAP S/4 HANA implementation include 12 times faster plant planning and management reporting, invoicing reports produced 97 percent faster in finance, a measured 8 percent increase in revenues linked to improved retail assortment and promotion capabilities, a reduction of the company database from 22 TB to 5.8 TB through enhanced compression, and an estimated reduction in the cost of business and operations analysis by up to 10 percent. Colombina is progressing to integrate SAP SuccessFactors and additional SAP cloud solutions to extend workforce, commerce and analytics workflows on the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial platform.
