In 2017, Comet updated its B2B portal integrated with smeup ERP in the ERP Financial category to address mobile usability and add functional BOM navigation. Comet is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pumps for agriculture and industry and has relied on smeup ERP for sector-specific management capabilities, using the ERP to underpin customer-facing and technical workflows.
The implementation focused on two clear functional changes, the mobile-friendly B2B user experience and the Item Search on Exploded View feature. The Item Search on Exploded View exposes a multi-level bill of materials for a selected item, enabling exploded view navigation directly from the B2B application, while the revamped interface improves mobile usability and touch interactions for field and customer users. A video tutorial was produced to support user training and adoption of the new interface and features.
Integration work reused data already present in the smeup ERP management system, avoiding additional operational overhead while enabling the exploded view to surface existing BOM and item master data. Several structured meetings were held with Comet’s Technical Department to map day-to-day operations, align data semantics, and adapt working methods so the B2B application could consume the same transactional and master records used for other processes.
Governance and rollout emphasized operational sustainability, with the Technical Department driving configuration alignment and the video tutorial used as the primary training artifact to accelerate adoption. The scope of impact included customer service and technical teams who access BOM details and item information through the B2B portal, with the change delivered as a streamlined extension of the existing smeup ERP environment without adding recurring operational tasks.
