In 2021 Constellation Energy implemented Sterling Background Check for BackGround Screening across its recruiting and onboarding workflows. The deployment targeted hiring for engineering, maintenance and technical roles, including nuclear and security positions that require site access clearance. Operational scope covered recruiting teams supporting nuclear plants across the Midwest, Northeast and Mid Atlantic territories and focused on execution of background and educational checks required for access authorization. The program was embedded in the talent acquisition lifecycle to standardize verification steps for high security hires.
Sterling Background Check provided the core background and educational verification capability, and was used in coordination with applicant tracking systems Workday and Taleo which handled candidate funnel management, job posting and onboarding functions. Configuration emphasized screening triggers for positions requiring nuclear site access and processes to surface verification status into recruiter reporting, with recruiters conducting weekly executive stakeholder meetings to review candidate clearance and produce hiring reports from Workday and Taleo. Business functions impacted included talent acquisition, security screening and onboarding for site access, and the combined recruiting and screening processes supported sourcing and placement activity that accounted for over 425 hires across regional nuclear facilities while these workflows were in use.
