Functional capabilities implemented include daily sales posting, gift card and gift certificate control, voucher and ticket auditing, petty cash tracking, and support for preparing journal entries and sales and use tax returns, aligning the application with routine accounting close activities. The implementation connected Sms Host workflows to operational systems cited by the resort, including integrations with Great Plains for financial posting, F&B POS systems for outlet transaction capture, and Shopify for retail and gift card reconciliation, as well as lift ticket sales and employee food card transaction feeds. Operational coverage spans accounting, night audit, F&B outlets, retail and ticketing operations, and centralized controller review, enabling end to end transaction traceability from point of sale through general ledger. Governance and process changes were formalized with daily internal audit tasks that review Night Audit inputs, require outlet manager approval for voids and adjustments, and enforce daily auditing of redeemed vouchers and gift card stock. Operational controls include scheduled monitoring and updates to the company SNAP register monthly and annually, random monthly audits of bank lock boxes and petty cash safes resort-wide, and a training cadence that requires cash handling staff to be trained within a week of hire, with the internal auditor serving as a back-up Night Auditor when necessary.
