In 2019, Cummins UK implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as part of a broader Cummins, Inc. cloud program focused on ERP Financial modernization. The decision was driven by the manufacturing industry shift toward alternative fuels and changing regulatory requirements, and the program included shutting down a large on-premises data center and moving many systems to the Oracle Cloud to secure more reliable and flexible financial operations.
The Oracle Cloud ERP deployment centered on core ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger consolidation, accounts payable and receivable processing, fixed asset management and cash management, with configuration to support strengthened compliance reporting and financial controls tied to evolving sustainability regulations. The implementation emphasized standard financial workflows, automated period close, and centralized master data to create a single source of truth for transactional finance and reporting.
Architecture and operational coverage were oriented to cloud-native provisioning, phased migration of on-prem systems to Oracle Cloud ERP, and consolidation of operational and financial data to improve visibility for manufacturing decision making. The work was part of a global effort touching Cummins manufacturing operations and operations staff across the company, aligning financial systems with operational data to enable faster responsiveness to market and product changes.
Governance moved toward joint CIO and finance ownership with new processes to manage cloud deployments and data readiness for future analytics. Cummins leadership communicated an explicit expectation that Oracle Cloud ERP, combined with eventual AI capabilities, would enable transformation of manufacturing operations, better utilization of operations staff and quicker product time to market.

| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle Cloud HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2016 | 2017 |
In 2016 Cummins UK implemented Oracle Cloud HCM to centralize talent management and Core HR processes across its global HR organization. The initial implementation focused on automating the annual leadership assessment workflow, converting a dispersed, spreadsheet driven practice into a single, self service application used by roughly 1,800 senior managers in over 40 countries to appraise more than 5,000 middle and upper management employees.
The deployment included Oracle Talent Management Cloud talent review functionality embedded within Oracle Cloud HCM, and the program planned broader adoption of performance management, profile management, and workforce compensation modules for about 30,000 employees in more than 50 countries with a scheduled go live in January 2018. Configuration emphasized self service data collection and built in calibration workflows, and Cummins developed executive and manager dashboards to surface KPIs such as high potential counts by line of business, function, and geography.
On the integration and architecture front Cummins moved toward a real time API microservices platform and cloud ready design for HR integrations, and implemented robotic process automation using UiPath to connect HR and Finance. Reporting and visualization capabilities were delivered through Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence for operational progress views and through Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service for more advanced, multi source analytics. A formal HR Data Quality Global Function was created to govern employee master data quality across the lifecycle.
Governance and operating model changes included a Global Change Control Advisory Board for the HR systems portfolio and a shift in HR practitioner roles from administrative spreadsheet work to advisory and analytics focused responsibilities. The talent review automation reduced the time to complete data collection from months to two weeks, shortened calibration discussions to about four weeks, and achieved 98 percent completion of the target executive population in year one, while integration modernization efforts were reported to save the company 600,000 USD per year.
