Daimler Trucks North America implemented Microsoft Power BI in 2016 to centralize incident and defects reporting workflows. The Microsoft Power BI deployment addressed Analytics and BI needs for defects analysis and incident visibility across the organization.
Implementation consolidated interface outputs from GLAPAR Posting, Intercompany Goods Purchasing and EDI invoice interfaces into Excel staging files for defect analysis. SAP interface data was transformed using SQL within Microsoft Access to normalize fields and expose transactional attributes required for reporting, then surfaced into Power BI models and visualizations.
Microsoft Power BI dashboards and reports were designed to highlight incident and defects status, supporting defect triage and monitoring workflows. Reporting artifacts focused on status, occurrence context, and interface traceability, enabling analysts to cross filter EDI, purchasing and GL posting records against defect incidents.
The transformation effort identified loop holes in interface code that caused a specific interface to crack, an explicit finding from the data analysis. The work combined Excel consolidation, SQL-driven transformation in MS Access, and Microsoft Power BI reporting to create a repeatable analytical pipeline for ongoing interface and defects monitoring.
