Sage Legacy Sage 300 ERP (formerly Accpac) ERP Financial ERP n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, Dallas Zoo implemented Sage 300 ERP (formerly Accpac) as its ERP Financial platform to centralize revenue accounting and core financial controls across both Zoo and Society operations. The deployment positioned Sage 300 ERP as the authoritative system for general ledger posting, revenue recording, and month end financial close activities for the institution. The implementation focused on configuring Sage 300 ERP modules aligned to revenue accounting workflows, including general ledger configuration, fixed assets management and depreciation processing, cash management, and recurring journal entry automation for accruals, deferrals, and allocations. Functional capabilities implemented include revenue reconciliation processes, preparation of G L reconciliations, monthly sales tax return processing, and support for external audit procedures within Sage 300 ERP. Integrations were established between Sage 300 ERP and front line revenue sources, notably Tessitura POS software and the Glory RBG 300 Cash Recycler, plus routine ingestion of credit card statements and bank statements to ensure recorded daily revenue in Sage 300 ERP correlated to daily bank deposits. Operational coverage extended to the Cash Office, the Revenue Accounting Manager role, the Controller and CFO, and other Zoo staff responsible for daily revenue capture and reporting across both Zoo and Society legal entities. Governance and process changes implemented alongside Sage 300 ERP emphasized standardized reconciliation cadence, documented procedures to support program execution, and operational ownership for the Cash Office including personnel management and oversight of day to day cash handling productivity and accuracy. The configuration and procedural controls embedded in Sage 300 ERP supported month end close activities, fixed asset accounting, sales tax reporting, and assistance with annual external audit processes.

Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Power BI Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2016 2018
In 2016 Dallas Zoo implemented Microsoft Power BI for Analytics and BI. The deployment was built on a Microsoft SQL Server 2016 based data warehouse hosted on Microsoft Azure, which synchronizes RFID data daily and links to five other data sources to provision inputs for Power BI analysis and reporting services running in Azure. The Microsoft Power BI implementation provides cloud hosted reporting and dashboarding capabilities, with dashboards delivered to PCs, tablets, and Apple watches to support handlers working in exhibits, proposed visitor information kiosks, and remote access for staff such as Scott. The RFID system had been enhanced in 2015 with components of the Microsoft cloud, with financial support from the UTD Venture Development Center and technical expertise from US Medical IT, supplying the primary telemetry feed consumed by Microsoft Power BI. Operational scope covers animal care and visitor engagement business functions, with daily ETL orchestration into the SQL Server 2016 data warehouse and Azure based Power BI services to enable role based visualization and operational awareness. Governance and operational controls focus on scheduled data synchronization and centralized cloud reporting, with integrations explicitly limited to the RFID feed and the five other stated data sources feeding the Analytics and BI environment.
