In 2019 Deseret Book implemented Acumatica Cloud ERP as its ERP Financial platform to centralize product and financial records for retail and digital publishing operations. The deployment supported catalog and product data governance for more than 16,000 eBook and audiobook SKUs across Deseret Book, Shadow Mountain, and third-party vendor catalogs, aligning product master and financial posting processes with Acumatica Cloud ERP.
Acumatica Cloud ERP was configured to manage product master data, SKU lifecycle controls, item attributes and financial record keeping typical of ERP Financial systems. Functional workflows reflected ERP-aligned capabilities for SKU creation, eISBN tracking, inventory and revenue accounting, and order related recordation, while content production scheduling and asset preparation remained part of the operational process.
Operational data and workflows were managed across Acumatica Cloud ERP, Oracle, Bowker, Spree and Excel, with digital product teams maintaining customer-facing content through the Spree backend of the in-house website. The digital product manager role coordinated conversion, packaging and distribution workflows that produced ePub and audiobook assets which were distributed to third-party vendors including Amazon, Audible, Kobo, Overdrive and Barnes and Noble, while product identifiers and eISBNs were recorded in Acumatica Cloud ERP alongside Oracle, Bowker and spreadsheet sources.
Governance included SKU and eISBN creation processes, production scheduling for eBook and audiobook teams, and facilitation of contracts between legal and external authors and distributors. Deseret Book Acumatica Cloud ERP ERP Financial implementation therefore centralized core product and financial functions, while operational content preparation and external distribution remained coordinated across specialist publishing and e-commerce systems.
