In 2019, Ditas implemented EG A/S Aspect4 as an ERP Financial platform to centralize retail operations for the XL-BYG shopping chain. The deployment consolidated promotion management and sales reporting into a single application used by the central office and the independent DIY centres.
EG A/S Aspect4 was configured to host centralized promotion management and automated price printing workflows, enabling store staff to push a button to print promotion prices and dates. The implementation also exposed sales history reporting capabilities, allowing users to click to view item sales over time to inform stocking decisions. These functional modules align with core ERP Financial capabilities for merchandising, pricing, and inventory planning.
Operational coverage included the network of independent XL-BYG shops and the main office in Denmark, reducing manual transfers of webshop and common system information by individual stores. The architecture emphasizes a central instance delivering standardized promotion data and transactional reporting to distributed store endpoints, with data flows between the central Aspect4 instance and store printing and reporting functions.
Governance and process restructuring created centralized configuration of weekly promotions and standardized execution at the store level, removing the need for each shop to set up promotions individually. The rollout shifted day to day merchandising and inventory planning toward centrally authored directives that stores execute locally. Reported benefits include unified promotion setup, automated printing of promotional pricing with dates, and rapid access to historical sales for estimating stock quantities.

In 2006, Ditas implemented IBM Cognos Business Intelligence to establish a centralized reporting and analytics layer. The IBM Cognos Business Intelligence deployment, categorized as Analytics and BI, was positioned to surface the same business logic that Ditas maintains in Microsoft Dynamics AX and to support the company’s network of independent, self-managing member businesses.
The implementation emphasized enterprise reporting, ad hoc query and dashboarding capabilities, along with scheduled report distribution and role-based content provisioning to mirror existing AX workflows. IBM Cognos Business Intelligence was configured to publish supplier, product, pricing and campaign reports that reflect the transactional and master data views already maintained in Axapta, preserving consistent business logic across corporate and member-facing interfaces.
Cognos was integrated to consume transactional and master data from Microsoft Dynamics AX and to leverage the AX-based web extranet developed with EG so that member businesses could access analytics via a browser. Operational coverage targeted finance functions including invoicing and bonus volume reporting, marketing campaign reporting and procurement order visibility, aligning analytics consumption with the central invoicing and supplier payment flows that remain under Ditas control through AX.
Governance focused on controlled self-service, implementing role-based access aligned to AX user roles so chief clerks, marketing staff and managers could retrieve accurate, current reports without altering central processes. Rollout prioritized aligning the Cognos report catalog and scheduled distributions with AX-driven processes such as order capture, supplier agreements and member-level purchasing dashboards.
