In 2010 DriveTime Car Sales Company implemented Shaw Systems Loan Management to centralize loan servicing and accounting workflows, deploying the Shaw Systems Loan Management application within its finance organization. The implementation targeted core financial operations including loan servicing accounting, treasury reporting, accounts payable, and cash management under the Loan Management category.
Shaw Systems Loan Management was configured to address loan calculations and journal entry automation, with functional focus on payment posting, interest accruals, amortization schedules, and automated journal generation. The deployment also instrumented reporting capabilities to support treasury reporting needs such as securitizations, warehouse lending tracking, and borrowing availability, and incorporated ETL and data transformation patterns consistent with Loan Management operational reporting.
Operational execution included on-site finance and accounting teams in Phoenix, with technical deliverables that included ETL processes built using T-SQL and DTS and reporting/workflow automation implemented with VBA. The implementation supported end to end Loan Management workflows across loan servicing, AP, cash management, and treasury accounting, and produced consistent journal streams for downstream financial close processes.
Governance and rollout used Agile Scrum practices, with DriveTime business analysts embedded on the project to streamline workflows and refine loan calculation logic. The project explicitly streamlined workflows and improved loan calculations and journal entries, and led process automation across AP, Cash Management, and Loan Servicing accounting, including mentoring and knowledge transfer to on-site finance staff to support ongoing operations.
