| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019, Dyson launched a global SAP S/4 HANA conversion under its largest digital transformation programme, targeting the company financial and operational backbone. SAP S/4 HANA was deployed as the ERP Financial platform to replace SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and to centralize Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Records to Report, Data Management and Supply Chain Management capabilities.
The implementation scope was a global Release one to move the entire business from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 into SAP S/4 HANA, with functional ownership covering P2P, OTC, R2R, Data Management and SCM. The programme was scaled as a multi millions pound global delivery, and delivery teams were organized across Technical, Functional, Business Change, Cutover and Data work streams to support the conversion.
Configuration focused on core ERP Financial workflows, including procure to pay invoice lifecycle, order to cash billing and receivables, records to report financial close and reporting flows, master data consolidation and supply chain master processes. The Data Management work stream executed master data reconciliation and migration planning, while the Cutover team prepared the final data migration and system go live sequencing to support an end to end Release one delivery.
Operational delivery involved coordination of over 150 people across technical, functional and change teams, with active stakeholder and third party management to align operations and testing across global sites. The programme lead provided governance and advisory input to the Dyson Programme directors board, guiding resourcing, design tradeoffs and mitigation decisions during the conversion.
Governance and program controls emphasized risk identification, resource redeployment and leadership for Data, Business Change, Business Continuity and Training to maintain schedule under constrained timing. SAP S/4 HANA Release one was delivered on time in July 2020, and programme leadership served as the primary adviser to the directors board while managing cross functional execution and third party collaboration.
