In 2014, El Paso Electric implemented DNV Cascade as its Asset Performance Management application. The deployment focused on supporting distribution, transmission, and substation asset operations at El Paso Electric’s El Paso, Texas site, positioning DNV Cascade as the primary Asset Performance Management platform for asset lifecycle and resource planning workflows.
DNV Cascade was administered alongside existing utility systems, with operational administration responsibilities described as administering, supporting, and maintaining distribution, transmission, and substation software. Functional capabilities implemented included asset hierarchy and inventory management, inspection and condition monitoring workflows, scheduling and resource planning typical of Asset Performance Management suites, and risk oriented analysis workflows to prioritize maintenance activities.
Integrations and operational coverage were explicit, with DNV Cascade operating in concert with the CGI Asset and Resource Management ARM suite, the ESRI ArcGIS platform, and Schneider Electric’s ArcFM extension of ESRI. Governance and support were staffed through a System Administrator role from July 2014 onward, responsible for ongoing configuration control, data synchronization across GIS and resource management systems, and day to day application support for IT and asset management teams.
