| SAP | Legacy | SAP Business One | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, EMIS Health deployed SAP Business One as its ERP Financial application. The initial rollout ran in Watford from September 2017 to November 2018, with finance staff and managers working day to day to operationalize accounting, reporting, and control processes across departmental stakeholders.
SAP Business One was configured to support month end close workflows including posting accruals and pre-payments, budgeting and forecasting cycles, management of monthly non-recurring cost and revenue sheets, variance analysis and commentary against forecasts, budgets and prior month, and management of fixed assets and depreciation with weekly updates to provide month to date figures for month end. The implementation also included maintenance of a deferred revenue workbook and provision of ad-hoc reports required by the business, reflecting finance and FP&A functional coverage in the ERP Financial deployment.
Technically the deployment leveraged SQL Server Management Studio as the database administration and query layer and used Data Transfer Workbench for data movement into SAP Business One, while Microsoft Packages supported spreadsheet-based budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder communications. This architecture denotes a relational database-backed SAP Business One environment integrated with ETL tooling and Office-oriented reporting workflows.
Operational governance for SAP Business One centered on a structured month end cadence, with monthly department expenses meetings and centralized ownership of the deferred revenue workbook and close tasks, and weekly fixed asset updates to ensure timely depreciation figures. Core business functions impacted included finance, accounting, and financial planning and analysis, with routine postings, variance commentary, and ad-hoc reporting executed through SAP Business One.
