In 2017 EnerSys implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as its Compensation Management solution across its global operations. The project was led by a Global Compensation Systems Manager, covered all EnerSys locations in 40 countries, and was completed on time and successfully while establishing SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the HR system of record for roughly 10,000 employees.
The deployment focused on the SAP SuccessFactors Compensation module alongside the Variable Pay module, with configuration of functional capabilities including annual salary increase templates, discretionary bonus templates, management incentive plan templates, and pay for performance templates. Administrators developed custom calculations and templates to support country-level salary recommendations, and ran compensation analysis and salary market data regressions to build local pay structures and salary bands.
Operational integration tied SAP SuccessFactors Compensation to SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central for core employee data and HRIS workflows, with global template administration managed centrally. The implementation supported business functions across HR, regional HR teams, HR business partners, and management, enabling compensation program administration, new hire and retention adjustments, and incentive payout processing across the multinational footprint.
Governance and process responsibilities were formalized through central administration of templates and annual review workflows, management of the annual Management Incentive Plan process with data integrity and payout controls, and involvement of the Compensation Committee for approvals. Job and role evaluations were supervised using Hay Group and Korn Ferry grading methodologies to ensure consistent slotting, and the Global Compensation Systems Manager provided ongoing compensation counsel to management and HR stakeholders.
