In 2017 EnerVest implemented SplashBI as an Analytics and BI application to support revenue accounting across its oil and gas portfolio. The deployment focused on producing operational reports and surveillance for both company-operated and non-operated properties and on detailed revenue tracking for 43 partner companies.
SplashBI reports were used to extract internal production logs and to feed structured revenue models and upload templates for Oracle P2 Accounting, enabling systematic ingestion of monthly well volumes and property expenses. The implementation included company specific revenue models and templates built in SplashBI to standardize uploads into P2 Accounting. Reporting capabilities included surveillance and exception reports to surface unreported revenue and outstanding items.
Integration with Oracle P2 was central to the architecture, with SplashBI feeding prepared templates and reconciliation datasets into P2 Accounting for revenue posting. Operational coverage extended across multiple accounting departments, with the revenue accounting team using SplashBI outputs to manage wells, track check receipts and deposits, and to set up divisions of interest decks reflecting percentage owed to remitters. The implementation supported revenue recording for major remitters including ExxonMobil, BP, Marathon, and Bedrock among the 43 companies.
Processes were formalized through weekly cross-department collaboration to reconcile surveillance exceptions and to contact remitters to resolve discrepancies, supporting auditor and regulator compliance. Governance changes centered on template-driven uploads and surveillance-driven exception workflows that became the basis for routine revenue reconciliations.
Documented outcomes tied to the SplashBI implementation include an explicit improvement in revenue recording efficiency through the use of standardized templates, identification and remediation of unreported revenue with remitters, discovery of over 4 million dollars in outstanding third party expenses dating back to 2016, and consolidation of over 85 receipts to supplement accounting data. These outcomes were realized through the combined use of SplashBI reporting, bespoke revenue models, and the Oracle P2 upload process.
