In 2018, ENGIE US Wind implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial system for North American business units, replacing Microsoft Dynamics SL. The engagement targeted consolidation of corporate financial accounting for ENGIE North America Inc and established SAP S/4 HANA as the primary ERP Financial platform for AP, AR and GL processing.
The implementation deployed SAP FICO core financial modules, explicitly covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and travel expense report processing through Concur. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support standard financial close workflows, month end and year end closing activities, and to serve corporate accounting functions across North American BUs.
The technical architecture combined managed database servers and application servers with custom integration layers. Integrations were implemented to Microsoft Dynamics SL, JDEdwards, Concur (SAP), SAP BOFC Cartesis, ICMS and IBM GERS, using SSIS and SSRS for ETL and reporting, along with PGP encryption and decryption for transaction exchanges between business units and banks, and custom Web and Windows application interfaces.
Operational ownership remained within application management and finance operations, with staff performing DBA, system analyst, software and BI architect, QA and support duties. The rollout encompassed corporate accounting teams and required hands on collaboration with accounting managers and directors to maintain financial data flow and closing processes across the integrated systems.
